Amy Lyn Robertson, 66, of Tenaha, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2021, in Nacogdoches.

Graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 3, 2021, at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center with visitation beginning 1:30 p.m. at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Rev. Carol Clifford Turner and Rev. Malcolm Monroe will officiate.

 

Born October 2, 1954, Amy is the daughter of the late Harold Dean Robertson and Betty Ann Parker Robertson. She graduated Center High School in 1973 and went on to work in education as a Theatre teacher. She retired as office manager from Flat Fork Water Supply in September of 2020.

 

Amy was an avid reader and took every opportunity to share her love of books with others. Amy was a member of "Friends of the Library" and worked on numerous book sales for fundraisers. She was also a member of First United Methodist Church in Center. In her spare time, she also enjoyed crocheting and made many afghans for her friends and family. Amy had the most beautiful voice and those who had the opportunity to hear her sing were truly blessed. She was a very talented actor as well and starred in several productions in college.

 

She is survived by her sister, Lea Ann Robertson of Center; niece, Ashlyn Forbis and husband Adam of Troup; great nephews, Landon Ray Forbis and Hudson Lane Forbis of Troup; extended family, Janet Gomez Romero and husband Guadalupe Romero, Rudy Romero, Michelle Gomez, Fatima Romero, Carmen and Juan Navarro,

Santiago Navarro, and Jose Navarro; also a number of cousins, other relatives; and a host of friends.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Harold Dean Robertson and Betty Ann Parker Robertson.

Nancy Jane Weatherby Kepner, 81, of Lufkin, Texas, passed away March 27, 2021, in Lufkin, Texas.

 

A private graveside service at the Restland Cemetery in Tenaha, Texas, will be held under the direction of Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center.

 

Mrs. Kepner was born September 15, 1939, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to James I. Weatherby and Yvonne Davis Weatherby.  She was a 1957 graduate of Tenaha High School and graduated from Baylor University in 1961 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.  She was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority while at Baylor.

 

Mrs. Kepner began her business career following college with Standard Oil Company of Texas (now Chevron Oil Company) in Houston and concluded her career with Merichem Company in Houston.

 

Mrs. Kepner was preceded in death by both her parents and her husband of 38 years, Jack Leo Kepner, who passed away in 2010.  Remaining relative is cousin, Phyllis Phelan of Enfield, Connecticut.  Special friends to her were the Birthday Girls – Linnie Edwards, Mary Kay Ford, Jo Ann Rainwater, Kathy Scharer and Floy Haddox – with whom she shared many years together on trips that always resulted in lots of laughter.  Also special to her was longtime friend from Tenaha, Shirley Spurlock.

She Was born January 28, 1953 in Corpus Christi to the late Lee Nolan Cotton and Corine Daniels Cotton.

Peggy Jean Webster Kennedy, 85, of Center, passed away Monday, March 15, 2021, in Center.

 

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 18, 2021, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center.  Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 19, 2021, at Watson & Sons Chapel with Bro. Peggy Jean Webster was born September 18, 1935, in Center, to Ruby Louise Green Webster and Earnest Benton Webster.  Following her early graduation, Peggy got on a bus and went to Houston.  There, she married Lock B. Chambers.  They owned and operated a drug store, where Peggy made all the salads and had a wonderful lunch following.  She was also a Railroad Employee for twenty-five years while in Houston.  In 1976, Peggy married Keith Kennedy and started a wonderful life of 45 years.  They built a beautiful home and ranch on Lower Arcadia Road.  Peggy was a longstanding member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church.

 

She and her first husband, Lock B. Chambers, had two children, Sheila C. Brock of Center and Brian Glenn Chambers of Castle Rock, Colorado.  Sheila has given Peggy two grandchildren, Justin and Jeffrey.  Brian and Donna gave Peggy a granddaughter, Taylor; and her stepson, Allan Kennedy and wife Terri of Dallas gave Peggy another beautiful granddaughter, Audrey, and a handsome grandson, Trevor.

 

Also surviving Peggy is her husband, Keith Kennedy of Center; son, William Kennedy; stepdaughter, Kristin Kennedy Drost and husband Tom of Colorado Springs, Colorado; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives; and a host of family friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ruby Louise Green Webster and Earnest Benton Webster; her sister, Nell; and brothers, Earnest Jr. (Shorty) and Russell.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jeffery and Justin Brock, and Trevor Kennedy; and nephews, Josh, Joel, and Daniel Webster.

Rodney L. Adams, 55, of Timpson, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2021 in Tyler, Texas. He was born on June 14, 1965 in Fort Worth, Texas, to Carlos Jerry Adams and Leatha (More) Adams. Funeral service will be Monday, March 15, 2021 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church, Timpson. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Timpson, Texas.

 

Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 1:00PM at First Baptist Church, Timpson on Monday, March 15, 2021. 

 

Rodney grew up on the north side of Fort Worth, Texas.  He attended Northside High School.  He met the love of his life Adriana Cano in Fort Worth and the two married March 10, 1999. The couple spent over 30 years together before his passing. Rodney was a very hands on individual.  He worked as a mechanic and truck driver for many years.  He could fix anything that was broken.  Rodney got his pilot’s license and enjoyed flying around East Texas.  He and Adriana loved to travel, whether by plane or on his motorcycle.  They enjoyed going to Arkansas, Galveston, along with other places. 

 

Rodney loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.  The best times were those spent with his grandchildren.  Rodney’s heart was big, and he found great joy in helping others.  When he was not with his children or grandchildren you could find him with his wife out riding in the boat, fishing!  Rodney attended First Baptist Church, Timpson.

 

He is survived by his wife, Adriana Adams; sons, Rodney Leman Adams Jr., Ramon Guerrero III and wife, Ana Moreno; daughters, Crystal Massey, Erica McCollister, Amanda Evans and husband, Andrew; grandchildren, Jacob Guerrero, Bianca McCollister, Emi Massey; mother, Leatha Adams; brothers, Jerry David Adams and wife, Laura, Michael Grooms; sisters, Wanda Hibbler, Paula Grooms; and a host of family and friends that will miss him dearly.

Conway Hunter "Bubba" Mallory III

 

Conway Hunter “Bubba” Mallory III, 61, of Center, Texas, passed away on November 23, 2020 in Center, Texas. Born September 12, 1959, in Memphis, Tennessee. He is the son of the late Dr. Conway Hunter Mallory Jr. and Joann Howell Mallory. Bubba’s wishes were to be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

 

Bubba attended and graduated Center High School. After graduation he attended Tyler Junior College. He worked for Dunhal Pharmaceutical Dental Division for several years in East Texas and western Louisiana. He worked in Houston before moving back to work for George Ihlo as a brick laborer, worked for his brother in law hanging wall paper, electrical work for East Texas Poultry Supply, and worked for Midwest Fiberoptics and also in the natural gas field. For the past few years he has been self-employed. Bubba thought he could fix anything, but it didn’t always work out. Bubba was a big hearted and very generous man when he could be. His health has taken a toll on him the last few years.

The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Billy Ihlo and Mark Twain Livingston for being his best friends through it all.

Susan was born and raised in Houston, Texas. Her father served in the military which allowed her to travel frequently.  She spoke highly of the time she spent in Guam and on the island of Truk.  She graduated from Sam Houston High School.  Susan was a black belt Jiu Jitsu member.  She obtained this while overseas.  Susan met the love of her life, James Dale McCann, while attending a dance hall competition.  The two fell in love and continued entering dance competitions bringing home numerous awards throughout the years.  She also enjoyed bowling with Dale. They were part of a bowling league and met many friends throughout the years.  Susan’s pride and joy were her children and grandchildren.  She attended every activity her grandchildren participated in. From ballgames to cheer, and theatre to rodeo, no matter what it was she was their greatest supporter.  In her spare time, she enjoyed going to the casino.  She attended Pine Ridge Missionary Baptist Church

George Allen Parrott, 94, of Cypress, formerly of the Folsom Chapel Community, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2021, in Cypress.

Graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 6, 2021, at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center with Rev. Darwin Parrott officiating.  Visitation will be held prior, beginning at Noon.

 

Born August 27, 1926, in Wells, George is the son of the late Leonard Darwin (LD) Parrott and Nora Diamond Nail Parrott of Center.  Immediately upon graduation from Center High School Class of 1944, George voluntarily enlisted for service to his country, serving in the United States Navy during WWII in the Philippines, Iwo Jima and Okinawa stationed aboard USS LSM327.  Honorably discharged at the rank of Yeoman 3rd Class he was awarded the American Defense and Pacific Theater ribbons.  George went on to make a 40-year career at Shell Chemical in Deer Park while raising a family in Pasadena.  Following retirement he moved to the Folsom Chapel Community, where he and his beloved wife Christene lived for 25 years.  His last 10 years were spent with his son and family in Cypress.

Preceded in death by parents, Leonard Darwin Parrott and Nora Diamond Parrott; brother, James Leonard Parrott; and wife, Christene Parker Parrott.

 

He is survived by his brother, Darwin Henry (DH) Parrott and family; sister-in-law, Betty Parrott and family; son, Allen Parrott, wife Michele of Cypress, grandchildren Travis and Lauren Parrott.  He is also survived by daughter Pamela Montferrand, husband Marcel of Sugarland and grandchild Mark Harden, wife Kayla and two great-grandchildren Matthew Harden and Alice Harden.

 

Pallbearers will be Barry Brunson, Gregg Parker, Mark Ivey, Scott Ivey, Travis Parrott and Allen Parrott.  Honorary pallbearers will be and Marcel Montferrand and Mark Harden.
